Remember your teeth are not functioning independently from the rest of your face, head, neck, jaw and body.
We not only restore your teeth to healthy function we also can advise you on treatment for sore facial and neck muscles; headaches; bruxism/grinding of teeth; sleep apnoea and/or snoring; fine lines and wrinkles.
We find that often the health of teeth and gums reflects overall general body wellness. For example it is well known in medical literature that patients with heart disease often have a high incidence of gum disease. We regularly have patients referred by their medical specialist, prior to planned heart surgery, to assess and treat their gum disease before the surgery.
Thus by setting some personal goals to improve teeth and gum health, you in turn vastly improve your general health.
Botox / Dento-Facial Aesthetics
Botox / Dento-Facial Aesthetics / Facial Injectables / TMD / Bruxism
Dento-facial aesthetics is the ultimate cosmetic dentistry as it enhances not only your smile but also your entire face framing your smile.
The Australasian Academy of Dento-Facial Aesthetics (AADFA) was established in 2010 and is dedicated to advancing the art and science of aesthetic dentistry.
Owing to extensive and skilful knowledge of facial anatomy ; daily practical experience dealing with muscles of the face and an ability to provide accurate and comfortable injections, dentists accredited with AADFA are well qualified to be providing facial injections.
Many patients decide to undergo dento-facial aesthetics to make the most of a cosmetic procedure such that fine lines or wrinkles do not detract from the appearance of their new smile.
Botox is also useful in treating severe facial muscle pain caused by bruxism/grinding/clenching.

Dermal Micro-Needling therapy stimulates natural collagen and accelerates the production of new healthy skin cells. It is also a good treatment for scar softening.
The micro-trauma caused by gentle injury to the skin causes the body to respond with increased fibroblast activity. Collagen and elastin production is increased, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced.
This results in a thicker epidermis (outer skin layer).
Professional Facial Peels

Lip enhancement with TGA approved medical grade dermal fillers is one of the most popular dento-facial aesthetic treatments.
Tooth whitening technology has given us the ability to remove years of internal and external tooth stains and return teeth to their natural youthful colour.
Teeth may be discoloured by…
- surface stains due to lifestyle (coffee, tea, smoking, red wine, coloured food)
- poor oral hygiene
- certain medications
- tooth decay
- tartar/calculus (hardened plaque)
- older yellow fillings
- tooth trauma (an injury to a tooth even from years ago can cause a tooth to turn grey or black)
Not everyone is a good candidate for whitening. Factors that could make this treatment unsuitable include severe tetracycline stained teeth, defective or absent tooth enamel, smoking and untreated gum disease. Grey teeth take longer to whiten and yellow teeth whiten the best.
A good old-fashioned home remedy only for mild surface stains is to dip a wet toothbrush in bicarb soda and brush your teeth.
Before whitening first have a thorough dental hygienist clean and polish of your teeth (recommended every 6 months approx.)
Various whitening treatments are available depending on the cause of your discolouration.
- light activated bleaching – a rubber dam is applied to isolate your teeth then whitening gel
This takes an hour however you will need multiple sessions plus a take home tray to continue whitening at home (we don’t recommend this system of whitening as it can cause sensitivity and you still have to use a tray at home anyway!)
- bleaching trays – we take impressions of your teeth and make a custom fit tray made especially for you that fits comfortably and precisely (not a one size fits no-one tray!) We instruct you on where and when to apply the whitening gel at home at a time that is convenient for you.
Bleaching can be done for an hour a day for 3-5 days consecutively. We highly recommend this system of whitening. This is what we use to whiten our own teeth!
- whitening of a root-filled or grey/black tooth – bleaching gel is put into a small access hole at the back of the tooth. The hole is closed with a temporary filling. Takes 1-2 applications of bleaching gel. Works really well. The hole is then sealed with a permanent filling.
We are now able to bulk bill for children eligible for Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) helping parents with no out of pocket costs. You can currently claim up to $1000 for each child aged 2-17 years over 2 consecutive calendar years.
Full mouth or partial dentures are an alternative option to replace 2 or more missing teeth.
They are a removable solution not fixed in your mouth like implants or a bridge.
However, dentures will also provide some support for your facial muscles and help fill out the appearance of your face and profile.
It is our privilege to provide services to DVA gold card holders with no out of pocket expenses.
Custom made mouthguards fit well and are much more comfortable than a “one size fits all” (translates as “one size fits no-one”) type mouthguard. Your child will actually wear a mouthguard that is comfortable and stays in their mouth while they actively participate in their sport.
Statistically 25% of children will accidentally damage their permanent teeth by age 14.
Children with prominent front teeth are more at risk of injuries and boys are twice as likely to injure their teeth compared with girls.
Occlusal Splints / Bruxing / Teeth Grinding
Occlusal Splints / Bruxing / Teeth Grinding
A customised occlusal splint is a removable device worn at night usually over the top teeth to prevent teeth from direct contact during grinding or clenching. Thus, facial and jaw muscles are more relaxed over time preventing a sore jaw and less cracks occur in teeth.
A splint can also be designed to keep your jaw in a more relaxed position during sleep.
